An internet-based and regionally housed de-escalation training Assessment and Research Center created to serve the culturally diverse communities and police organizations in West Central Illinois, the larger Midwest Region, and beyond.
Mission
The mission of the DeTAL Assessment and Research Center is to provide evidence-based de-escalation training and scenario-based practice with feedback and performance reflection.

The mission involves testing and optimization of novel education approaches (e.g., online, virtual scenario-based applications) for officer communication, self-regulation, decision making, behavioral responses, and safety in service to community members.
​
It is also the mission of the DeTAL Assessment and Research Center to incorporate community feedback on de-escalatoin curriculum content and scenarios.
